Community asthma program (CAP)

Asthma education for children (under 18) with chronic asthma and their families

Breathe easier with our Community Asthma Program

Give your child the best chance of learning to manage and live with their asthma.

The Community Asthma Program (CAP) provides asthma education and support for children (under 18) with chronic asthma and their families.

An asthma educator works with groups to provide information and help children:

  • understand asthma, its signs and severity
  • identify triggers and learn how to control them
  • use puffers and spacers
  • understand their medications
  • develop a written asthma action plan
  • learn asthma first aid

What do I need to do?

Parents and families can contact the Community Asthma Program via the contact details for their preferred location. Health professionals can refer clients by completing a referral form and faxing to the community asthma program.
