Frances (Fran) has an interest in refugee health, Indigenous health, HIV medicine, drug and alcohol management, infectious diseases and travel medicine. She qualified from the University of Melbourne in 1981 and has more than 35 years of experience.
For the past 20 years, Fran’s focus has been at cohealth Health Works – a primary health service for people who inject drugs. Her work is diverse and has a combined public health and clinical focus. It includes providing pharmacotherapy for opioid dependence, management of hepatitis C and HIV, as well as routine care.
Fran has worked in refugee health programs in Sudan, Thailand and Pakistan. She has been a Medical Advisor to the Australian Red Cross and Overseas Service Bureau, and has spent time at the Aboriginal Health Service.
Fran is currently a GP Advisor for the North West Pharmacotherapy Network and a member of the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine. She has a Master of Public Health and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Outside of work, Fran enjoys any activity in the natural environment, especially aquatic. She loves travelling and living in different communities, and upcycling furniture.
