Lian belongs to the Chin (Hakha) community in Melbourne.

He has a Master of Translating & Interpreting from RMIT and is currently completing a PhD in sociolinguistics at Deakin.

Lian has experience working in alcohol and other drugs, early childhood, education, family services, family violence, mental health, settlement, disability and community development/engagement.

He loves assisting clients with their language and cultural barriers.

Outside of work, Lian enjoys reading, teaching, researching, debate, music (composing and singing) and sports, including swimming, table tennis and badminton.

He is a member of the Melbourne Chin Church (youth choir and church school teacher) and is an active participant in youth activities in Australia.
