Improve mental and physical health and wellbeing by joining in and being part of the teams at cohealth Kangaroos.
The Kangaroos aim to provide access to team sports for people who find it difficult to access mainstream sports clubs. Many participants have a variety of social barriers including mental health, homelessness, and alcohol and drug addiction. We actively encourage health and wellbeing through social inclusiveness and physical activity as well as developing teamwork and leadership skills. Participation develops a sense of belonging, self-worth and community connection.
The program includes a winter Aussie Rules team in the Reclink league and a summer cricket team with a Twenty20 competition. cohealth clients can get involved in a variety of ways including on-field leadership roles and playing, to off-field duties and support.
We are able to link participants to other health and support services, building the community and connection within the teams.
