cohealth’s non-residential withdrawal nurse program provides help for anyone wanting to stop or limit their alcohol or drug intake. It is for people who have decided with their doctor to withdraw from drugs or alcohol in their own home.
Trying to withdraw from alcohol and/or drug on your own can be very hard.
Our registered nurses specialise in treating alcohol and drug dependence and are trained in educating clients on the effects of alcohol and drug use, harm reduction and the withdrawal process. Also, they can provide pathways to residential detox, rehabilitation and counselling services where non-residential withdrawal is not suited to the person or if they require more treatment.
Your treatment may include a review of medications, a reduction plan or the choice of a day to cease altogether, while being monitored by the nurse regularly.
People aged 18 years or older, with a history of problematic drug use, and a desire to stop or limit their alcohol or drug intake.
To use this service, you need a referral from an intake and assessment service. Regen is a separate organisation who you can speak to over the phone to find out if our non-residential withdrawal service is suitable for you. They can refer you to your nearest location to suit your needs.
Contact Central Intake on 1800 700 514 to complete an intake screener and then request a cohealth location.
There is generally a 1 – 2 week wait to get an appointment.
This service is free.
