What is YORS?
YORS is a mental health program, offering short to medium-term outreach support to young people aged 16 – 25 experiencing mental health symptoms or psychological distress.
YORS welcomes LGBTQIA+ young people. The program is culturally safe and inclusive of First Nations peoples and people of all cultural backgrounds and faiths.
What can we help with?
Work with a Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing Coach, to strengthen your ability to manage your mental health, and work on goals that matter to you. Here are some areas we can support with:
- Working to improve your mental health & wellness
- Further develop existing copings strategies or create new ones
- Discovering your strengths & building on your skills
- Building relationships & social connections
- Getting involved in activities that you’re interested in
- Exploring education and employment opportunities
- Building independent living skills (learn to cook or use public transport)
- Referrals to other services if needed
- Gaining support and information for safe use and concerns you might have with alcohol or other drug use.
- Work together with your families, carers or other supports
YORS compliments other mental health supports and case management services. We can attend care team meetings and connect you with other services, for more specific or ongoing support.
How is YORS connected to YRR?
Youth Outreach Recovery Support (YORS) compliments the existing Youth Residential Recovery Program (YRR) by providing an outreach support option to eligible young people. Young people can access YORS before or after participating in YRR. Young people participating in YORS can access some group programs and activities at YRR during the week.
