The Youth Residential Recovery (YRR) Program is a mental health program for young people aged between 16 and 25 years. Young people live in a private room, in a shared house for up to 12 months while engaging in mental health support.

YRR welcomes LGBTQIA+ young people. The program is culturally safe and inclusive of First Nations peoples and people of all cultural backgrounds and faiths. It operates as part of cohealth’s Youth outreach recovery support (YORS) service across Melbourne’s North Western suburbs.

What can we help with?

Working with a Mental Health & Wellbeing Coach, young people will develop goals that matter to them. Together we will:

  • work to improve your mental health and wellbeing
  • discover your strengths and build on your skills
  • building relationships and social connections
  • get involved in activities that you’re interested in
  • explore education, training and work options
  • support you with any concerns you might have around alcohol or other drug use
  • build your independent living skills
  • explore secure housing options for you
  • provide referrals to other services
  • work together with families, carers or other supports
  • provide opportunities to connect with peer workers

What programs and activities are available?

We can support young people to access a variety of activities at YRR and in the community, such as:

  • outdoor activities (e.g. bush walks, camps)
  • creative workshops (e.g. art, music, crafts)
  • health and wellbeing opportunities
  • cooking groups & communal meals
  • education and skill building opportunities
  • community outings (e.g. cafes, galleries)
  • LGBTQIA+ workshops

cohealth Youth Advisory Committee (CYAC)

This service is co-designed through the work of CYAC. Young people will be invited to be a part of the cohealth Youth Advisory Committee during their stay. This helps make sure the service includes feedback and suggestions from young people.

Arrange a tour

Young people can call us directly to arrange a visit to learn more about the program. Their supports and carers are welcome to make contact and support young people with their tour. Contact the location of interest to arrange a tour of each YRR site:
