The cohealth model

The cohealth model provides an impactful way to provide quality healthcare; address health and social inequity and make a real difference.

We pursue health and social equity through care for individuals, care for community and care for society.

How it works

At cohealth we:

  • Design and deliver high quality healthcare services in partnership with the community, and
  • Publicly campaign for health and social equity.

We design and deliver high quality healthcare services in partnership with our clients. It enables individuals to have a say in how their services are delivered.

By codesigning care with clients, they become active participants in their own health management. This in turn improves the services and programs we deliver.

We work with communities we serve to understand their needs, highest priorities and provide tailored healthcare based on their needs.

By delivering community health services and social enterprise clinics to the whole community we break down the barriers between private and community health care, demonstrating the kind of health equity we want to see in society at large.

We work towards health and social equity for all through our advocacy efforts and campaigns, focusing particularly on the people most in need. We are committed to fairness and equality and to making sure no-one is left behind. Everyone has a right to access high quality, relevant healthcare services.

Fees from services

We aim to provide services at little or no cost for low income clients. Fees and co-payments are based on the Centrelink standards for low, medium and high incomes – for example high income earners are charged full fees for services they access. Any revenue generated from fees that are charged for cohealth services go back into providing free or low cost services for people on lower incomes. Learn more about fees and costs on our website.
