MyMedicare

MyMedicare is a free and optional new program that offers extra benefits to Australians with a Medicare card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs Card.

MyMedicare is an extension of Medicare, and does not replace Medicare.

If you’ve had face-to-face sessions with your usual GP at least twice in the last two years, you can register for MyMedicare and nominate them as your preferred doctor.

In addition to the benefits you already have access through Medicare, registering for MyMedicare will allow you to:

  • access longer Telehealth sessions
  • have more flexible appointments
  • choose to display your preferred doctor in My Health Record

Initially, MyMedicare will provide the most benefit if you have chronic or complex health conditions, or want to talk to your doctor about mental health care. MyMedicare will continue to grow over time, and more benefits will be available in the future.

MyMedicare is completely optional, you can stop using it or change your preferred doctor at any time.

You can register for MyMedicare in person by visiting your preferred cohealth centre, or online through your Medicare Online Account or the Express Plus Medicare mobile application.
