Karen has worked in community health for almost 20 years. Her particular interest is refugee and asylum seeker health, and she has been involved in education around this for the past 10 years.
Karen previously worked in Darwin (during her training) and volunteered in East Timor and with Médecins Sans Frontières. She is also a GP supervisor and more recently was involved in the cohealth COVID response across north-west Melbourne.
Karen has a passion for working in an open welcoming environment that provides healthcare for all. She enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life and the age, gender and cultural diversity that they bring to each consultation.
Outside of work, Karen loves travelling, camping, swimming, bushwalking, eating diverse vegetarian food, and Melbourne’s live alternative music scene.
